Of all the cars I have owned over the years the Dodge Magnum R/T AWD is a contender for an all purpose fun car.
I have my share of gripes about some stuff on the car, mostly the AWD that is designed for the V6, like others mentioned I wish Dodge held on to the Magnum for just a little longer to at very least get the Eagle 5.7 and the newer AWD set up. I have a 2006 Dodge Magnum R/T AWD with 190,000 on it now. The coupler between the transmission and the transfer case is soft on the mid 2006 and earlier models, I replaced that at 140K. I refreshed the engine about 12K miles ago because I had an oil filter collapse on a -30* cold start and didn’t build oil pressure. I since switched to a filter like we run on our big block mopars. While into it, I put a bigger cam in it, with a better tune. Since I have owned it, it has always had a cold air set up an aftermarket exhaust. Also got rid of the MDS, changed the tune, and disabled the factory top speed 130 mph limiter. It pulls hard to 6000 now, is a blast to drive. Even on gravel roads the AWD keep the car planted to the road. Fold the seat down and it is like a truck, back seat is comfy with great leg room.
My other driver is a 09 Challenger R/T. I love to drive the Challenger, but for overall use and utility, is is not remotely close to as good as the Magnum. Curiousyellow71 on here took my stock Challenger down the track and it appears it will run high 13s consistently, but the Magnum is every bit as fast with the upgrades to the engine. Later last year we bought a 2018 GMC Arcadia, AWD SUV. While it is nice, with lots of fancy gadgets, and does most of the same things the Magnum does, except seats 7 people, it is terribly BORING to drive compared to the magnum. Plus half the time when we go to a parking lot we have to look at the licence plates to see which Arcadia is ours! I have MUCH more fun driving the Magnum.
