Everyday that I drive I smell weed coming from passing cars.

The article seemed weirdly informative but yet not informative. I really have no time for weed. Or any time for people that pawn it off as medical, its about as medically helpful as alcohol or tobacco. At least tobacco users and alcoholics can be highly functional. Can’t say the same for pot heads.

The legalize people (for medical mostly) put forward that it helps with a lot of issues especially in cancer patients and people with other medical problems with appetite or pain issues.

And, more importantly, it doesn't legally punish people for using it.

This may sound preachy, and I try often try to count my blessings, as "there but for the grace of God go I".
I fully admit I enjoy alcohol, and it's best enjoyed with the company of the opposite sex. However, I was always taught to be the best I can be, I will never be perfect, so I am destined to a life of improvement, I fully accept that. But my observations over many decades has taught me I have yet to observe anyone who became smarter by drinking, as a matter of fact the outcome is usually, at the least fewer brain cells. That is a deal breaker for me. If I was Issac Newton, I might be able to waste a few, obviously I am not.
Regarding drugs, I have been in the concert business since the very early 70's. Not sure there is any profession with more drug exposure than that world by so many. I was the straightest person in the business I suspect, it created some tension professionally, but I was not judgmental.
A long story led me to try the experiment with pot at the first Star Wars movie with a chick. I loved it, the movie, the chick, the effect and the intercourse afterwards (that is an ambiguous term here intentionally). That experiment lasted one year, I was very fond of the memories, but the aftereffects of fogginess was a detriment to my profession, and I have never tried it or anything else since. I always said when I drop my CDL "A", I might return.
I still have my CDL.

Smoke it or eat it, take your pick. I'm not here to say, yes or no, but I don't do drunks either. Drinking has been protected forever by lobbyists in an effort to keep taxes on it down to make sure it stays affordable. How many DUI's can you get if you have a GREAT lawyer and deep pockets to walk you out the front door. You couldn't drive a car, but you could your boat. I know a guy with a dispensary and a women I did work for that lived next door to Ozzie Smith, he got a beer distributorship in a deal once. Like EVERYTHING in life, moderation is key. How many doctors are big drinkers behind closed doors. Over 40 percent of the people between 20 and 30 smoke or have smoked pot. In that that same age group, 60 percent drink regularly. The big difference is acceptability. Both can stay in your hair for about a month. No one really knows anyone if they choose to hide. That doesn't make either of them a problem driving a car hours later, by law. How many sad stories do you want to hear. I agree this is a government problem and both are money makers for them. You can add the lottery and gambling to that list the government loves also.

The double standard with alcohol and weed always really annoyed me - IMO alcohol is much worse in many ways but legal and "socially acceptable" but weed was (and still is many places) illegal and people who do it are looked down on as druggies and lazy losers.

Doesn`t specify how many were over and how many were under the legal limit, that would be relevant info. I also didn`t see anything for testing of alcohol or other drugs both prescription and illicit? Singling out only one possible cause is not a very good study if they don`t also look at all other causes.

As with all drugs consumed into the body, the body begins immediately to rid itself of the offender. Two weeks is a long time if one application is still measurable for that amount of time. We can measure alcohol in the bloodstream and determine that over said amount , driving is impaired beyond a safe driving level. Can we measure THC in the bloodstream and determine whether someone is too impaired to drive? Does law enforcement have a portable stoner tester?
I remember back in my teens some classmates would smoke and drink at night but seem to be safe enough the next day to drive. I guess my question is just because its detectable prolly does not mean too impaired to drive, or does it? In my small town the cops seem to deal with drunk drivers as much as smoking while driving drivers.

THC stays in your blood for a long time, though not actively interfering with your thought and motor skills past a few hours, so I'm not sure what to make of this data. I use 2.5 to 5 mg several times a week to be able to sleep though pain since the docs keep battling me on opiate use (a big thank you to the drug addicts). I would test positive for sure after a crash, but by morning the THC is not effecting me what-so-ever.

Just as with alcohol, opiates, and other things, there is no reason to stigmatize THC users who use it responsibly.

yup.. everytime i hear bad **** with weed it's almost always mixed with other stuff.. mostly alcohol... I would never say weed is harmless.. but booze is sooo much worse it's crazy

I agree with the double standard. I have supported many bars in my time and there is nothing that can be said about pot, that can't be said about alcohol, except, alcohol is much worse in my opinion. I have friends in both businesses and nothing is more dangerous than a drunk.

Success is not tied to recreational fun, but in long term ambition and commitment. You wouldn't believe the people I know and their positions in society that indulge in recreational marijuana. It's a do as I say, not as I do thing..... I have no dog in this fight and couldn't care less.

Success is not tied to recreational fun, but in long term ambition and commitment. You wouldn't believe the people I know and their positions in society that indulge in recreational marijuana.

I know fully functioning, successfull alcoholics and stoners - work, family etc., it doesn`t always lead to being a failure in life but I guess it depends on one`s definition.

I had a friend that worked everyday possible and ALWAYS had 6 beers in a cooler in his car. He'd drink them on the way home and he'd drink 4 to 6 more when he got home, everyday of his life. Unbelievable!!
