I'm seeing 74 Roadrunners had a one year seat/shoulder belt arrangement. Could someone post some pictures of how and where these belts are mounted? Thanks.

I'll be able to help ya out on that in a few days when mine comes back from doing some paint repair. If my memory is correct there is a winder left rear driver seat w/buckle & lap+shoulder bels sewn togeather to buckle. In roof is shoulder extension and loop/pulley and then shoulder belt goes straight down into plastic rear qtr lwr panel with a winder hidden in there. Three bolt points 2 belt winders. I hate mine cause they run across my neck I have pulled them out and will go with lap belt only. I will use existing buckle on trans hump and use belt and winder from rear seat on drivers left.

I got the seatbelts in, but is the rear retractor just supposed to stick out like that? Was there a cover that went over it?

There is a recess in the metal panel below the window and a hump in the lower door/kick panel with a slot on the top. If you do not have the slot for the belt to go through, yours are from an earlier year/other model and just what I want to use to replace mine. You see the new headliner will cover up the top mount and a new kick panel without the slot will make it so that no one will be able to tell that I went from a 3 point belt system to a lap belt.
Those no-slot kick panels were used in a few different models.

74 was the 1st year where the shoulder harness had a retractor. 74 only rear side panels, 2-piece. Has a smaller cover over the retractor. Sorry can get pics when I get home next week.

I pulled 74 Satellite seat belts out of a car a few years ago to put them in my 73 Road Runner. The metal bodies of the cars are physically different, and the 74 seat belts will not bolt up and work in a 73 without a lot of modification. The 74 metal body has a cavity to mount the retractor. This metal cavity does not exist on a 73, so you would have to cut and weld in a piece from a 74 to make it work like factory (plus get the belts and trim pieces).

In the end, I bought standard retrofit seat belts, and mounted the retractors inside the rear trim panel. The belts route up through the ash tray hole. This means no cutting, no modifications, and 100% reversible if I ever wanted to.

To finish this out I would like to get a slotted cover for where the belt comes out, but it works well so far.

Just food for thought...

P.S. I still have the complete 74 seat belts laying around somewhere if someone needs them. Won't do me any good...

The quarter panel covers I have now have a section cut out of them to allow for the retractor, so it looks like I'm missing the second part of the panels.

Yep have a lower cover. I might have some. Can check when I get home next week.

I was on ebay last night and saw a set of panel covers for a 74 Charger than showed the four pieces. I didn't buy them since I just need the two lower panels. My question now is how do you get the belt though the slot in the cover? Do you have to disassemble the retractor and take the belt off?

now that'salottaslotts. 10-4 exactly what I have. and from what I've seen mark probably has or can find some
