Need some helpful advice please

I guess if you have the ability to do the re-assembly work then tell him to finish painting the complete car and get it the hell out of his shop. You and the car will be much happier.

Without going into too much detail, my original body shop guy did the cut ins first, then he took the car to another shop while still on the rotisserie and painted it. Problem was with red paint, I had these weird light spots on the edges of the fenders and doors, and it was because he used more paint on the cut ins then he did painting the entire car, and it looked like crap. I ended up having the entire car blocked and repainted by another shop that knows how to paint. I think its ok to do the underside by itself. Just sayin. I hope you get better results from your guy!

Sounds like he budgeted for X-amount of paint, then did the cut-in (it's normal to cut in everything first) then realized how much material it took to do just that, then tried to stretch the remaining paint to do the body since he knew he couldn't get more paint easily (Red being the most expensive paint to buy).

I have a friend who is a excellent body and paint man. But getting him to finish a job is like pulling teeth. Last paint job I was gonna have him do I took to another shop after he started complaining about it. Were still friends, we got over it. some guys I think just get burnt out on it. I would be very discouraged by my 3rd shop I feel for you. Just hang in there and keep on it and if your goals are falling way short its probably time to move again.

Very good advice from Dako. Get him to tell you the day that certain parts of the work will be done. Show up on that date and hold him to what he told you. Go back and see what work has been done -about once a week. The squeeky wheel does get the grease. Nice guys go to the end of the line.
When you make up a work contract, be sure to include a time line for parts of the project to be done. If they fail. you have a contract to threaten legal action......................................MO
