I need to gather some wisdom from you folks. Just a little background, I have built a few engines in my life, put in some clutches and that kind of stuff. I have never had any experience with transmissions.
So here is my situation: My 1969 GTX with 4 speed transmission has lost the ability to shift into 3rd or 4th. The linkages are hooked up and they move when the shifter moves. One of my friends says that it sounds like I broke a shifting fork.
Since I'm a decent mechanic, should I dig into the transmission and see if I can fix it or should I leave it to a person more qualified than myself?
Thanks in advance,
David
