So I need some help, I just got the new 440 installed in my 62 Polara 500. It will fire up and run at 2500 rpm and greater. Anything less then that it dies out and will not run. I am running mopar orange box electronic ignition, 750 carter carb, everything is new, including tank, lines, manual fuel pump, etc. I tested fuel pressure and it is getting fuel and pressure to the carb.

I am guessing it might be electrical, as I put another carb on it that works great on another ride and still had same problem. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated at this point. Thanks

Check your timing. Look for vacuum leaks. If you cover the carb, and it won't stall, you have a vacuum Leak.

What distributor do you have on the car? Does it have an advance kit on it? If so, could have the wrong springs in it and timing is off.

Great looking car!
Does the car just "Die" OR "sputter" ?

As mentioned previously, sounds like vacum leak.
"High" RPM is indication.

Also, try spraying "quick-start" or take a Propane Benz-o-matic trorch and open the valve (dont light) and let propane flow out (Be Careful) and move it around the manifold base of carb etc abnd listen if engine climbs in RPM.
That would be your vacum leak...

Do you have the A&A cross ram manifold?

Thanks Super-Bee,
No cross ram just modified single plane, It completely dies out at lower rpm, I will be doing a vacuum leak test tomorrow thanks guys!image.jpg
