New job

Congrats on leaving my home state.. I’m preparing too myself. And most importantly the new job!

Started a new job today ! Almost 60 years old. But it was all my doing so no one to blame but myself. We moved cross country , so I haven’t worked since may 1st. Staying up to 2:00 am was a bad habit to get into! Sleep should come easy tonight.

Congratulations on getting your new job and moving out of IL, hope it all works out!

Thanks for all the well wishes guys!
I’m a electrician by trade , it’s a small company and I will be setting up a maintenance system with a spare parts program.

You are one mean mother...

I found quite the opposite here in New Yuck. I spent a year and a half applying for jobs that I matched or exceeded the qualification required. There were many jobs pre covid. I got called for only 5 interviews all the rest did not respond, even though they did not fill the positions.
The first question at all of the interviews was " How long do you plan on working". Now I am pretty sure they don't ask the applicants who still have color in their hair that question. I am not upset with the way it turned out, nor with the companies I applied to, but it was definitely my age that turned them off. You can't really blame them, they want someone that will stay.
I decided to retire. Its been a great choice so far.

Yeah that is a problem
I kind of lucked out , they were looking for older guy to help the young ones out. People with experience are needed it’s just not everyone is willing to deal with replacing them sooner than a younger person.
