Welcome to FBBO from Hot & sunny NorCal
I run a Mancini Racing alum downflow large core 22" rad in my 68 RR
with an appr. 600hp 479ci/383-6bbl, it's like a thermal nuclear reactor
I don't have any overheating issues...
If done right the 22" size is OK, especially if it's a mild build
the 383ci 335 hp RR's came with a std. 22" rad,
Chrysler engineers wouldn't have done it, to begin with,
if they thought it'd be an issue...
IMO something else is wrong, clogged rad,
bad fan or bad pump wrong thermostat etc.
If the car came with a rad. with a 22" wide core support,
you'll have to modify it to go to a 26" rad,
the enlarge the main opening & the bolt patterns are
different, wider apart...
going to a bigger rad. isn't a bad idea if done correctly
good luck
