That's really slick. Jim and Bones approve.

Don, This is what I came up with. My oldest MOTORS MANUAL says this information, it covers from 1935 to 1946.
Engine Number Location: Left front of cylinder block. This info is from passenger car book.. so truck engine numbers could be slightly different.
1935 6 cyl DU-1001 Bore 3.250 x stroke 4.375 =217.8 cu in. CR 6.50 developed HP 82 @ 3600 RPM.
1936 Engine number=D2-1001 217.8 cu in.
1937 " " =D5-1001 217.8 cu in.
1938 '' " =D8-1001 " "
1939 " " =D11-1001 " "
1940 " " =D14-1001 " "
1941 " " =D19-1001 " "
1942 " " =D22-1001 Went to 230.2 cu in. in 1942 and up till 1954
1946 =D24-1001
1947 =Engine numbers continued from 1946.
Maybe this information will help shed some light on what engine you have.

I was doing some research last night I understand that p = plymouth motor and d= dodge mine is pd I also read somewhere that the first 2 numbers are the year but there is so much different info out there.

for what i can find its a 1933 plymouth deluxe motor 3 1/4" bore and a 4 1/8" stroke 5.1 compression 189.8 c.i. with a whopping 70hp at 3600 rpm according to what I found with the pd on the serial # pad that engine was a redesigned model starting in 1932 and continued till 1959. it had the silverdome on the head which started with the flat 4, and had an optional red head which was aluminum with 76 h.p. for those who care about these old motors. so were those motors used in half ton trucks? starting in 32 they say that number may be stamped on the frame of the truck near the rise in the frame for the rear wheel on the drivers side. so will see if its matching numbers when I get the duster off the lift this weekend. That one is sold and going to minnesota to its new home.

Saw these two yesterday....

Although this one is a Brand X, it was still pretty cool. Love his license plate....

I had a couple power wagons on my radar too, tried to buy one at mecum indy, won the high bid but didnt meet reserve, I would have paid the reserve price but it was a flat bed, and had a few other issues, had Col Arnold Briggs on the side of it, from cape cod mass. from your neck of the woods
