Hey so i saw a 1970 sport satellite that is a column shifter and i wanted to purchase but thinking about the price and car insurance needs. The guy wants $8,800 for the car when i inspect what should I look for?

I will review the basics and look for leaks & rust and other things but i was wondering if there is anything specific to these cars that i need to look at.

I have Geico and they state they have classic car insurance.. I am wondering how much it would cost ( i don't have the VIN yet).

Any comments or advice is greatly appreciated.

looks clean from that pic..LOL

That car was just sold on e-bay. Were you the winning bidder? I spoke to the seller. Not the original drive train. It was replaced with a 383 engine and a 727 trans. I would check that thoroughly. The seller claimed it was pretty clean, with minimal rust, but again, check it- frame rails, trunk, floor pans, etc. Insurance from Haggerty for that would be about $200 a year.

Go with a company that only deals in classics. If you have a claim with run-of-the-mill carriers that have "classic" policies, you will not get the same benefits that the classic-only companies offer. And they will not be willing to pay restoration shop rates, only the "prevailing rate" for collision shops in your area.

Welcome and there are a few 'classic car insurance' threads on FBBO and others. FABO even has a whole forum devoted to it. Do your research to find the best deal and company for but a tip 'agreed value' is something to consider and how much they various ins co's / policy allow you to drive it annually.

Here you go .. read this

and this

more out there but 1st one is especially good for me

welcome to FBBO, maybe also post a thread in the General Discussion forum too, it might get a few responses also... good luck
