No Fuel

I tried starting my 440 in the 74 Roadrunner and I'm getting no fuel. Here's the conditions:

1. There's fuel in the tank.
2. I replaced the pump.
3. I can blow through the fuel line from the carb to the pump, so there's no blockage.
4. When I stalled the pump, I held the push rod up so it's against the lever.
5. I ran a length of fuel line from the pump inlet to a gas can and still nothing.

Any ideas???

Fuel pump push rod may be worn down.

I tried a known good used one and a brand new one. Pump is not the problem.

Check the rubber hoses in the fuel lines. You may have one that's cracked, and sucking air. How are you checking for fuel ?

Hold your finger over the inlet hole of the fuel pump, have some crank the engine over, should feel suction on your finger. If no suction, bad pump, worn fuel pump rod, bad pump lobe on cam. I would double check pump installation as well to verify the pump rod is installed correctly.

Edit: what cam are you running? Some new roller cams don't even have a fuel pump lobe on them. This may or may not be your problem just thought I would throw it out there.

Well, I don't know what happened. Maybe I had my tongue on the other side of my mouth, but I pulled the pump, seated it like I had done before, and now it's gushing like a fountain.

Great! Now pump some fuel into a clear container and make sure its not being mixed with air bubbles. Sometimes there are air leaks on the fuel supply side between the pick up tube in the tank, and the pump inlet. Mine was pulling air at a junction where the rubber hose connected to a metal fuel line.

Air leaks can cause it to not work at times.
