I'll get a pic of both water pumps and will post tomorrow. It's all speculation until you post that pic
I pulled off the ac water pump and the non-ac one I have is the exact one I need (one in the left). It's all speculation until you post that pic
So now I have the correct non ac water pump for the 69 and all of the correct pulleys, but now I am questioning my set up that is currently on the 68 ac car. I put a Flowkooler 1679 water pump on it last year in an attempt to to fix an overheating issue and it didn’t help much. I think I need to put the ac 4 groove crank, water pump and pulley on the 68.Just keep in mind the water pumps were different on the non AC cars as i have been down this road (All original factory AC GTX 440) to do it rite you will need the pulleys and pump as the non AC cars had a larger 8 vane pump and the AC cars had a smaller 6 vain pump they both fit in the housing it is the fact that if you put the non AC pulleys on the AC pump it will run to fast and cavitate causing the engine to over heat. I don't remember the exact numbers but the non AC pump has a reduction of approx .9 to 1 and the AC pump runs approx. 1.4 to 1 so make sure you match everything up or you will be fighting a heating issue you might not be able to see. What i am saying is it is a matched set water pump and pulley as well as crank pulley you need to make sure they are the matched ones so you don't run your pump to fast or to slow. If you leave the AC pump on the engine you need to leave the pulley dia. the same. It is all about the flow!!!
Clean off the mounting surface of the water pump housing, then purchase and install a FLOWKOOLER pump....after you've painted it to color of your engine. The FLOWKOOLER PUMP will move 2x the water as either pump shown in your pix. Use the existing water pump drive sheave. Remember.....the higher the velocity and gallons/ minute of the coolant will provide better cooling. The design of the FLOWKOOLER pump's impeller inhibits cavitation at higher engine RPM. Use a 50/50 mix of glycol and water with a 180° F high flow thermostat........Thermodynamics at work.....I pulled off the ac water pump and the non-ac one I have is the exact one I need (one in the left).
