I can’t believe I didn’t pay more attention to this when I bought motor from the builder. I had to buy a fuel pump for my 360 and just put in that it was a 76 year.i don’t know if it matters. But I’m thinking it is a 73. I can’t see the date by just looking. I had to slip phone up there and take pics. I managed to use a dremel tool with wire brush, but sometimes see a 3, a 5 or even a 6. I’m leaning towards 5-8-73. The front of block number appears to be machined off.

Get some reprorubber quick setting putty and try taking an impression of it.

Pumps bolt on the same. Just different orientation on the ports and some performance differences.

I can barely get one finger there. My first thought was to use a small piece of sandpaper. That didn’t work so well. Part of the problem is the rough surface of that area makes it look and feel like something else, depending on the light.

The last digit looks like a 3 to me (maybe).

Try a bore scope camera?

What about the numbers under the drivers cyl head. At the front obviously

Yes on numbers on passenger (and driver) side. Front of passenger side has something barely visible. I went back to my first camera and found this pic before too much brushing.

Pic doesn’t zoom in very well, but looking at number, top is pretty straight. Top right is closed, left top is open like the 7. Bottom has a partial circle. I’m thinking more that it is a 3, but they seem to have that flat top like I’ve seen elsewhere.
