Oil pan recommendations for street/strip 70 b body

Wish i had this version of the Moroso pan. My pan is an old version, without the notch.

I just installed the other 440 for my 1970 RR, and learned that center link is hitting pan at full turn.

Will have to modify the pan or get a new one.

I found out that my other 440 had a Milodon 30761 pan, so I installed that one instead. Problems solved.

That milodon hemi replacement pan is nice, trade ground clearance for one quart of oil. Even with kickouts the 7 qt pan will scrape on the street occasionally so its a risk.

Miloden makes great stuff, however I have taken out two Miloden 7 qt deep pans. Don't think it can't happen. If you street drive your car hard enough and often enough, it's a risk. You can't control the road, debris, etc. Drag racers operate in a controlled environment and are more likely to get away with it.

If you do use one, consider stiffening up your suspension, adding extra height/clearance, and constructing a tall enough skid plate to protect the pan.

I replaced my 7 quart Milodon with a 440 source 6 quart hemi pan and 440 source pickup. The Milodon pan was too low and I put a hole in it. The 440 source pan was delivered damaged. One of the corners was bent up like the pan was dropped. Because time was an issue I repaired the pan instead of returning. Additionally I had to add some threads to the oil pickup so as to get it to screw it into the block far enough to line up properly with the bottom of the pan and I had to grind off a little of the tube for clearance. I used the Summit combo oil pan gasket/windage tray. I had to modify the tray, that is I had to cut a hole in it, so it would clear the 440 source pickup. Everything eventually got back together and there are no leaks but this relatively straight forward task turned into a bitch. If I had to do over again I would use Milodon pan and pickup with the Summit gasket/windage tray. You get what you pay for.

I hear you, I had to file out the holes on their aluminum pan and modify both the pickup and windage tray. Everything clears now, but it was a process.
