I bought a gauge cluster for my `68 Road Runner a while back that has an actual oil pressure gauge in the spot where the blank/clock or tach would go. I don't know what year car the cluster came out of or what model for that matter but I have not seen another one like it. I just picked up the "Charger, Road Runner & Super Bee Restoration Guide" and it makes no mention of it even being an option. Anyone out there ever seen one or have one in there car?.

Oilpressure gauge was not an option in a 68 Roadrunner dashcluster. I have never seen it before. Only extra dash options that I know of are a clock and tach just as you mentioned. Are you going to replace it?

Does it match the other gauges in the cluster as though it is factory? Do you have a picture of it?

There were provisions for unlisted options when you ordered cars for sever duty like police and taxi cars. While an oil pressure gauge is not specifically listed as an option for a 1968 B body in the Data book, there IS a sales code 676 for "contracted NCS dealer pre-service" which was a contract company that added special requested items.

There were a lot of strange factory optional items that many people have never seen. Have any of you ever seen a dual zippered headliner? It was available so you could install/access wiring for things like light bars on police and fire department type cars.

My 68 Road Runner had one and it used the same sending unit as a rally dash car. The car was a HIME automatic ex FL Hyw Patrol car I bought at a Hyw Patrol auction in 71

Patrick is correct. I had a gauge set at one time from a 69 police car, it also had a certified 120 mph speedo. It was neat but i did not end up using it.

You asked for it, you got it. I bought this seperate from the car so I have no idea what year it really is or what it came out of.
Thanks for all of your input.

Special requested items were just that, things that a customer would ask for that were not factory listed options. Typically police, taxi, specical use municpal vehicles. Galen Govier's white books for production option codes show many of the police items such as spot lights, the dual zippered headliner, roof reinforcement (for light bars,) etc. If it was requested often enough Chrysler would assign a sales code to it, but it did not necessarily show up in the Data books or preprinted on the order forms. That is why the order forms have lots of extra space for adding such things. Typically when the dealer had such requests they would contact their factory sales rep and they would instruct them as how to code the order.

Regarding the oil pressure gauge, there is a part number on the one in the picture. If someone has a 68 parts book it would be interesting to see if it is listed as anything other than "oil pressure gauge" and if it gives any specific applications.

I just looked up the part # and it is listed as an oil pressure gauge for `70 belvedere/satellite non rallye.
          How about that!!

Where did you look it up? Since many are stating it has been found in 68 cars I wonder if it is in the 68 parts book?

They have a great "Tools/Reference" page that you can type in your part # and it will look it up for you. It wasn't until I removed the gauge and saw the part # on it that I thought to do that. I'll have to ask the guy I bought it from if he can remember what kind/year of car it came from but it's been a couple of years now.

I will look it up in my '68 parts book today. I don't think I had the book as of the date of the last posting on this thread. The cluster has a tape label on it that says " '68 SS" so Sport Satellite and if that's true than this one is not a fleet application.

It's not in the '68 parts book. Does anyone have a '69 or '70 parts book?

At least partial parts books can be downloaded at MyMopar. They are a bit of a PITA to use because they are such poor scans, and so many pages

I found a 67-68 Dart at a car show with a "seeming" factory oil gauge, same dash style as above (non Rallye) but could not find him or make contact to ask him.
