Where does this blue wire go near the ballast resister? Currently the wire on the left goes to the + coil, is this correct or does the blue wire go to that side of the resister?

The wire on the left is not factory. The terminal with the two wires should be, blue coil, brown start terminal on ign. switch. The lone blue wire should connect to the other side of the ballest and end up at the run terminal on the ign switch, by way of the voltage regulator. Throw the other wire away.

That's what I was thinking, Thanks! I'm glad I got new wire harnesses, I'm finding all kinds of mistakes! I'm not sure why that was going to the + coil terminal.

Does that (non factory) black wire on ballast resistor go electronic ignition box? RTBOY67 is right.

Naw...that black wire looks to be fairly new. Yeah, pull it, and if needed, use it to make a new wire, from distributor to - post on coil!

The question I have is why would someone take that wire and run it the + of the coil?

What ignition do you have? Mopar, electronic, MSD, points with no box? It makes a difference. That appears to be a repro harness. If it's a points ignition the other end of the single blue wire should have a loop/ space terminal that would connect to the positive side of the coil. Find it 1st before you go cutting anything.

It is points ignition with no box.

It is points ignition with no box.
Then if you can find the other end that attaches to the coil you can attach the pictured end to the ballast resistor, and the not use the black wire that is running to the coil now.

That a aftermarket harness? Might be for a dual ballast for electronic ignition if it is?

:popcorn2:Yeah, know what your question was. In your 'new' harness, for under the hood ignition, wires for BOTH sides of the resistor will be there, including the wire to the + post on the coil. So...that homemade black wire needs to go!
Mine was only a suggestion, considering all your wiring. That black wire appears to be new, and homemade...simply 'suggesting' put that new black wire to use. Black wire from - post on the coil, goes to the distributor. Your's in good shape?
Black wire from coil to distributor is NOT included in the harness, completely separate, and has to be made, or store bought.
