The spray booths are balanced, spray from above the middle goes up and from below the middle goes down. Both run in the floor in a river of water that carries the water outside to a sludge tank. There the paint sludge is separated from the water and incinerated into dust and shipped out as non toxic waste. We're talking water based paint here. Before water based paint the sludge was toxic. During model change the tank would be drained and a door opened and a bobcat would go in and scoop up the paste that settled on bottom of the tank about 3 foot deep and load it in plastic lined 20 yarders and hauled of as seriously toxic waste. The paint area is down draft. See they are standing on a grate and the overspray is drawn down. That’s why they don’t have any respirator on. Still not good for a person 40 hours a week.
