I don't remember seeing this in the old days??

several different drivers, were changing all the time in the later 60's

Blair's Speed shop (Pasadena & Gardena Ca.) car was a reg at
Fremont/Baylands or Sacramento or Bakersfield/Famoso Raceway or Sears Point
48 Anglia in several different renditions & classes,
from fuel altered 23t BBC, to a few Anglia's (Blown) BB-Gas, or B-gas BBC injected

I saw them at Lions & Riverside, or OCIR (till about 82) or LACR a lot too

IIRC they ran/sponsored by Art Carr Auto's/TH400 or PG in most of them too...

Later one with a Bruno-Drive 'converter' in-front of a Jeffco/Lenco 'planetary trans'

Their altered was a clutch car, a slipper 3 disc clutch (or 2 depending on the year)
Crower or Hayes Hats, had 6 finger Borge & Warner clutch with weights added
in a certified steel SFI clutch can...

None of them devices I ever saw, at least not from 1968 on...

Yeah, they probably sold them

My Dad had one - in a '66 Chevy cabover straight truck! Parking brake was shot and this was super-cheap alternative.

BTW, the straight truck was one he converted from a Budweiser delivery truck - it still had the little plastic "Bud Man" on the dash with the waving hand on a spring for most of its life on our farm. Dad bought it for cheap, cut it in half, stretched the frame, put on a "cheater" tag axle, and then added an 18' box/hoist combo.

That thing couldn't legally get past any scale house back in the day - those were the days!
