Modern education seems to have eliminated the importance of analytical thinking. "Question everything" used to be what I remember being taught in university; now it's "Believe everything you see".

there you have it all you knowitalls...."chicken little" called today - the sky is falling and don't let these people on here work on your car

Or believe what I say (be a sheeple or I will flunk you) eat the blue pill
& do not believe what your lying eyes tell you, is wrong or right...

Roundabouts on flat earth causes tornodos:

In fact, I used to chase them figuring they might be easier to get.

They are not.
For some reason I never had a problem with that but the well built ones were usually more stuck up.
we still have a few of those in Jersey........ we call them "circles"
We have plenty up here & we call them rotaries.
Rotaries or traffic circles here....but there's only two near me....one on each end of a tunnel. Used to have all yield signs on the roads coming into it but now it's all stop signs and a traffic light. Too many people here from all over the world and most of them have their own style of driving. Pasadena isn't nearly as bad as driving on the west side of Houston but still have to watch the other driver like a hawk!
