Triple trapper! Haven't had any since our last house, but I've always used peanut butter on the trap...they can't steal it and it gets 'em when they try to eat it.

I use to trap rats (4 legs) in a jaw type spring trap. Peanut butter with hominy grits mixed in is the most effective bait.

My neighbour next door has a shit load of those little voles running rampid in his yard.. the Lazy ass cant keep his grass cut short so they nest in the grass. so I go over one afternoon whens hes sleeping from his Night shift job.. and started cutting the grass. I could hear those little bodies hitting the inside of the grass catcher. pieces flying out from under neath the lawn mower.. see one running.. step on it.. and the end of it all I had quite a few stacked up on his rear deck to the enterence to his house.. bits and pieces.. to complete carcusses.. :) then I laid out the grain pellets mixes with the good stuff..

I have had the little varmits lick peanut butter off of the trigger without springing the traps. But I learned a new trick. Fold a slice of pepperoni double, and impale it on the trigger. The mice have to tug on it in attempt to steal it. Works pretty good....

I use american cheese. It works pretty good. I always put dryer sheets and mothballs in my car when I am done for the year. No problems with them inside of it. I spread cardboard under it to keep it from attracting moisture as well. Then a battery tender and its set. I still have a month and a half or so until its time to put it away.

I use Bounce dryer sheets. The mothball smell is tough to get out.

I use what is available to them. Since I have a dog, I use dissolved Milk Bone treats packed into and under the trigger.

To solve the "licking it off" issue, I built an electronic mouse trap. It was triggered by motion. It worked, but not at night, so I built one with IR motion detection. That one works in the dark.

I have a tray of homemade rodent killer in my barn. Either they are in hiding or dead.

                      Mix together:
                      1 cup sugar
                      1 cup flour
                      1 cup baking soda

Put in a tray with water nearby. They will be thirsty.

That is great. It's tough to imagine 4 double A's killing a mouse. That's better than mine. My trap was a regular trap triggered by an electric eye.
