But the outside layer makes a big difference in output, and you can't beat flat black for radiating or absorbing heat.
Silver is worst for heat transfer.
Radiators are black for a reason.
 
I'm kind of surprised no one asked about your timing. Retarded timing can result in a hot running engine. Also, a properly functioning vacuum advance unit, plumbed to a manifold vacuum source (not ported) can drop engine temperatures significantly over a mechanical advance only system. What's your initial timing?
 
If you want to keep electric fans then you'll need 4000cfm +. And a shroud that allows the fans to pull through the whole rad.
