Generally one gallon of color should do it but will be close. That leaves you no waste.
Keep in mind the more you break the parts down and spray them separately it will consume more paint. Also depends on what color and how well it covers over the sealer. Color of seal makes a big difference. Match the sealer color to paint as close as possible .
Good luck!
go with a good quality paint like DuPont croma base it's a 1 to1 mix and better ( toner) color hold out. or ppg top line. it is more expensive but the results will be worth it.
I painted the outside, the engine compartment, inside of the trunk, underside of the front stub, insides of the front fenders. I did not paint the floor pan top or bottom body color. We used 2.5 gallons of Dupont over a light grey sealer. I have a little over a quart left that matches just in case.
Talking to my painter, he says using a hvlp has increased his volume of paint on the car and not in the air with his old high pressure gun. He guessed somewhere around 30% more product. Makes a difference when your talkin 600.00 a gallon plus.
by using a higher grade of paint your mix ratio is better like Nasons is 8 to 1 du Pont Chroma base is 1 to 1 and hvlp is a money saver less overspray you will have a better color hold out and better color match. @ a gal. base will do . but on your clear coat I would do 1 to 1 1/2 gal of clear because when you color sand the clear you have enough clear you are not sanding the base coat
I used about 3/4 of a gallon just doing under the hood, engine compartment, under trunk , trunk, and door jambs with 3 coats. I would say around 2 gallons for the whole car is a good bet. (I bought 2)
