Pcv question. How to check?

Anyone should, but everyone who has a mediocre to non functioning PCV valve should strongly consider the....

M/E Wagner PCV valve!
They are amazing, can and have done what was required when people were about to rebuild or replace their engines, and all kinds of other bad issues, FIXED by this fantastic PCV valve!
If only to increase your knowledge about how critical PCV is, their website and informational videos are worth the time.
I got one when my 440+6bbl started having oil blow through the breather when I switched from the factory valve covers and PCV valve and breather to my fabricated aluminum Mopar crinkle black valve covers.
It works so well I got one for the freshly rebuilt Pontiac 421 Tripower too.

That's great. I spoke with the dad of M/E Wagner for a little tech support. I enjoy a nice chat, and especially car performance related stuff when someone really knows what's up. (Imagine that, maybe why I'm on this forum so much, lol). The business is dad, son, and I think the mom is involved too. Basically the son is the engineer. The materials and machining are top notch! Good people, knowledgeable, helpful, and a truly top of the line product, without rival!

My engine produces a too low manifold vacuum due to the cam.
With the help of AJ i managed to pin point the PCV as the main troublemaker for my poor idle.
The valve was at WOT mode at idle, feeding the engine wit excessive by-pass air.
For now i had installed a plug inside the pcv hose with a small drilled hole in it to limit the air supply.
The Wagner valve should fix this, likely i will have to use it in fixed orifice mode, but it’s a matter of trial.
They did think about this valve carefully indeed and designed it in such a way it seems to work perfect on any engine once setup properly.

Yes. The 292°/.509 Purple Stripe cam (sounds so GOOD!) in my 440+6bbl pulls about 11.5 vacuum. I have manual brakes, and even with the tricked out 4 wheel SIX caliper Wilwood disc brake system I'm about to install, I got a Wilwood manual master cylinder. I prefer the feel of a brake pedal with some throw distance and feedback, unless I have antilock brakes.
Anyway, I have always used my Wagner PCV valve in fixed orifice mode simply because I haven't taken the time to tune it, and for my purposes, that may be the best way to run it. On my 540 stroker, with nice, new cylinder walls and rings, I may have benefits to tuning the PCV then. I'm definitely going to tune the Wagner PCV valve in the 421 Tripower in my wife's 65 GTO, now that I've worked out some other carburetor issues.
You're going to really like the Wagner, I'm sure of it!

It's a garage and the big door was wide open. I was in the garage for another reason and the 440+6bbl beckoned me to fire it up...
