Pennzoil Synchromesh in 4-Speed

Does any use Pennzoil Synchromesh in their 4-Speed Transmission

I do, I also use it in my uncles 70’ RR and my buddy uses it in his Duster.

I had a slight gear clash from 1-2 when cold. I used the factory recommended SAE 140 and it was like molasses in January, gear clash in ALL gears. Went to Sta-Lube 85/90 from Napa and it was better. Talked to a local Mopar expert about replacing the synchros and he suggested trying the Penzoil Synchromesh first. Worked like a charm and saved me a lot of money. I give it a big

I had a local Amzoil rep tell me to be careful when selecting from these newer lubricants. For instance, if your vehicle called for a 75w-90 GL-4, use Amzoil Manual Transmission and Transaxle Gear Lube, not AMSOIL Synthetic Manual Synchromesh Transmission Fluid, as it is too thin. Might check with Pennzoil to see if they recommend Synchromesh for older transmissions.

It's in the '69 factory service manual Pg. 21-96. Might even be in the owners manual, but I'd have to go check to be sure about that.

Couple of guys by me have been running this stuff in their 4-speeds with good results. I just bought a gallon and am going to try it out in a tranny I am swapping into one of my cars.

yep warm climate- but outdated information
the oils available then have been reformulated
newer base oils have greater base film strength
for today oil expert Widman says
"I would even suggest looking for one of the newer formula 75W-85
Thinner than a 75W-90, or 80W-90 (which is really just a single grade 90 on the bottom end of the scale).
This should be readily available, since it is used in almost all manual Toyotas and 5 speed Nissans for the last 10 years or so.
Latest spec is "only" 10 years old vs 40 year old shop manuals

that's diff oil not synchro trans oil
