perfect look, fitting 15x10s

Hey guys I was searching on u tube and came across this coronet. This is the exact look I am going for. Now of course I cant find the video again to send an email to the owner about it. How did he fit the 15x10 ansens under the back?, They only offer a 3.75 off set on them, which you would think would rub. Air shocks? I gotta find that vid again. any info would would be great. Looks like they may have the rear end jacked up for clearance. Not the best alternative though.

It looks to me as if there is not enough back space on the wheels, and the wheels and tires will not fit inside the wheel well...My 70 RR was like that back when I first got it. It had air shocks and shock extenders to lift it up high enough for the quarter lip to clear the tire. The pinion snubber didn't have enough adjustment to be of any use, so all it did was spin tires. And, due to the high air pressure required to lift the car so high made for a very rough ride. I got wheels with the correct back spacing and tucked the tires inside the body. The changes lowered the car 4-5" at the rear, and I adjusted the pinion snubber to be effective. It also allowed me to lower the front end, too. Launches much better now.

Well that sucks. I loved the attitude/ stance of this coronet, what if I shortened the rear rend or did a spring relocation kit? Would that buy me enough room. Just love the bruiser look. This is what I imagined was cruising around in the early 70s. The video name on YouTube was EJ's 69.5 superbee.

shortening the rear is the only way to tuck those wheels.kinda pricey for a look.if you really like it then go for it.i would do a bunch of measurements just to make sure they will fit.you may end up relocating the springs as well,depending on your tire size.

Thanks, I watched the vid. The rear tires fit the wheel well same as my RR did. It had that same 70's bruiser-style look.

You don't need to shorten the rear end or relocate springs. I think what you need is wheels with the correct back spacing so the rubber is tucked inside the body a little more. Leave it all jacked up if you want. I'm just wondering how far away from the body the pinion snubber is. Should be about a half-inch, which is what I am running on the RR.

Hey guys, made a impulse buy yesterday. They are Tt's 15x10, and heres the bad part, only 4" back space. the tires are HUUUUUGE pro tracs measurements are 29.5 tall, 12.5 contact patch and 14" sidewall to sidewall. I know the tires will never fit but my dad can use them on his tbucket. forget about the tires, I am willing to shorten the rear, roll the lip on the feders, to get these wheels to fit. I dont mind the extra ywork cuz its gonna look like the picture in my head when i am done. American doesn't make this wheel with the correct bs (probly 5.5 or 6 inch), not in a 10 inch anywayo. I know with 69 coronets I have a little more room to play with. Caveman85635, any suggestions? If its not gonna work I can re-sell, hell, the tires alone are 300 a piece and the wheels are 200 from summit. I only paid 500. i appreciate the help. Erik

Wow, looks like a good deal. I'd like to stuff 'em under my car, too. It looks to me that if you want to use these, you're going to have to shorten the rear end and do some inner wheelhouse work, move the springs, etc. Probably something along the lines of a "mini-tub", although I'm not certain exactly what that entails. Mine is all rotted out and needs replacing, at which point I plan to tub it.

Dave, Im still learning about wheels and fitment to a certain extent. but why would I need to tub it? It seems to me that if the BS is only 4, my issues would be on the rub of the outside of the wheel well, with mini tubbing dont you just enarge the frame side of the wheel house? in my mind, if the wheel needs 2 more inches of bs to fit then why not just it out of the length of the rear end essentially moving the wheel where it needs to be ( and possibly that spring relocation kit). I will just have to stuff one up underneath and see how big of job I really have in front of me. lol thanks, and i will keep y'all posted erik
