Well. Got the Pertronix Ignitor III, 71381A. The distributor in my 1967 R/T turns out to be a 66 383 body, but this seems well within the fit range the kit is supposed to fit. Only thing is, it doesn't. Got a 66 C body 440 distributor, same thing. The plate screws are too big, and the vac advance rod is too long. Anyone else run into this, and solutions? Opening up the Ign III plate for the larger screws isn't an issue, but the advance certainly is.

Update-Pertronix is mystified also. The screw problem they've seen, fix is to just drill and tap the lower plate, not a biggie. The advance arm is a whole different matter.

Note to all-don't try to install unit in B/RB housing that contains 318 vac advance-which as it turns out is what was in there......:angryfire:

Lots of replies here-apparently none have had an issue before. Well, here's the skinny. The screw holes in the lower mount plate are 8-32, the screws on my housing are 10-32.Pertronix sez they've seen this before, so you may have to drill and tap the holes, because the larger screw locates the lower plate in the housing. There are also a multitude of distributor housing/vac advance combos, on old stuff what will fit a points plate won't necessarily work with the Ignitor III. I finally managed to get my hands on a correct 1967 RB distributor vac advance unit, and what had become a 4 day project was together in 3 minutes. As a result of heat and removal, the roll pin retained collar on the shaft was cracked, so some time was spent creating a nice aluminum replacement. There is a inexpensive replacement available for $10.50 (guy on fleabay gets $22 for same thing) Here. Anticipate that you'll need it-they don't like coming apart after 45 years, or going back in for that matter.
