Today, I received my Pertronixs III and the .3 ohm, 45,000 volt pertronix coil. This thing is so easy to install, I thought there were parts missing. Use the stock points breaker cam--no special reluctor and no air gap to set. It is multi spark, automatic dwell change at higher RPM, and has a very simple to adjust RPM limiter. I have a advance limiter plate with several different wieght springs , on the way.
My question is: what plug gap should I be using? Pertronix says I can run a larger gap with their electronic conversion, but makes no recommendation. I have a 440 engine --9.5:1 compression --about .475 lift, long duration cam, --Eddy RPM performer intake,-- 750 Holley double pump mech. secondaries.-- stock 516 heads with larger exhaust valves ,stronger springs,-- stock 68-69 Magnum exhaust manifolds with 2.5" pipes and Super 44 mufflers.-- RPM limit at 5,500 RPM. Thanks for replies............................MO
