This picture is not mine but looks about how mine does. The gap between the the pitman arm and the box: is that normal, is there no play with it like that? Thanks,....:eusa_think:

Normal. It is a tapered fit.

Is there a setup without tapered fit and if so how would that look. I don't think mine is tapered cuz the pitman arm goes up farther on the shaft then the nut will travel (meaning it would be loose) with out some kind of spacer between the arm and the nut.

Then something is wrong. I know there are two sector shaft sizes. Maybe you have the wrong pitman arm for your application. They are all taper fit.

This is my 63 Fury pitman arm to box picture. There is some distance between the arm and the box. The main thing is that the nut is torqued properly so the tapered fit is fully pressed. Also make sure that the arm is 'clocked' correctly, as there are 3 wider spaces between the splines that must match up.

Is the pitman arm tapered or the shaft. I bought a power steering box that came with a pitman arm. I now have a manual box which is suppose to use the same pitman arm according to Moog information. It seems like the manual box shaft is not tapered but maybe it's hard to tell and it's just smaller.

I believe one is 1" and the other is 1 1/8". It's not a minor difference.

Ok, Thanks...I did measure and my manual box has the smaller shaft, the small size difference makes a big fitment difference. I found out there are several people saying the moog K7075 fits the earlier (pre 72) manual box so I ordered one from local store. There are some on ebay for $100 + ride and they match the Moog #K7075 by the UPC#, probably why they didn't give part number cuz they are $40 cheaper at the store. Oh well hope this one fits. Didn't want to pay $175 for the one listed for 65 Coronet manual.

Ok, I got my new Moog pitman arm Part #K7075 and it seems to fit just fine for the Smaller shaft steering box. Cheaper alternative to the ones for $125 plus. This Moog can be had for a little as $45.
