i have a fuel tank off my 73 roadrunner. i eliminated the emission stuff of the tank. just wondering if anybody has plugged off the 4 nipples on the tank and how they went about doing this.

The four nipples are part of the fuel tank’s designed vent system. Nothing to be gained by removing or disabling the evaporative recovery system components. Plugging off the vents could lead to fuel starvation and/or a possible collapsed tank. Leave the tank vapor separator and hard line running to the engine compartment in place, check and replace the hoses as needed. If you choose to remove the charcoal canister, connect the vent line to a 71’ style breather cap.

I wouldn't recommend plugging an original tanks nipples but I changed my fuel system last winter and when i took the old tank off i found all 4 plugged with neoprene hoses and small bolt and clamps in them.. I cant say if the other guy had any problems with fuel starvation or not but i didn't, but didn't drive it that much at the time. When i ordered a new tank i plugged them off myself but only because the 3/8 sending unit had a vent pipe about 2 in long on it, this i put a hose on and ran up and out of the way for a vent.. You could have a problem with fuel starvation by plugging them im sure, as far as collapsing a tank, if its that old, thin, rusted out i would suggest a new tank regardless.. Ive seen stranger happen and just because its never happened to me doesn't mean it cant! I would do what 72 suggests myself, its not a big up keep.. Good luck.
