Let us know what they find wrong in that first converter after they cut it open
OEM 47RE pan gasket is rubber coated steel and works on 727 plus its reusable. There is a 904 version too. My 01 Ram diesel came from the factory with one, pulled pan 3-4 times in 220k miles, reused gasket every time, no leaks ever.BTW... i usually do a very thin layer of black rtv on my cork trans gasket (stamp steel pan) i see guys that use wheel bearing grease instead.. ever tried that? I never have leaks but having a gasket come off easier is welcome![]()
I don’t recall…… is it TF heads on a 318, or a stroker 318?K... trans back in, no leaks showing up so far.. car drives more like a car shouldhit the gas and it goes and all that.. so pretty happy with that.. still painfully slow but i will start tuning it and all the fun stuff now.. Shoulda went big block

318, TF heads.. howards roller .525/.530 227/235@50 on 109.. RPM intake...I don’t recall…… is it TF heads on a 318, or a stroker 318?
(Or am I thinking of someone else’s combo?)
1 5/8.. $100.... i'll live with it for now..Sounds like getting a Tac in the car should be moved up on the list.
So you can see what the converter is actually doing.
What size are the headers?
What carb?
Cranking compression?
Be interesting to see what it would show on a chassis dyno.
Right now i doubt it would hit 180Will figure it out.. i have a buddy with a chassis dyno but i won't let him near my car.. he hates anything not chevy soo much that i don't trust him not to kill it on purpose, won't even let him help me bleed brakes.. it's that bad.
he's not your buddy
Well, I read all the posts in this thread. Quite the saga. I wish u well in your endeavours. Kim
I'm guessing the proper converter woke it up. Hope to see more video again once you get it sorted the rest of the way out!
Its common to advanced it 2 to install the cam like it would while operating. That would be 101 on the intake. It is odd that you had to advance it 5 to get the intake to 103.5? Typically timing chains aren't that far off. Its possible, but unusual.pumped the intake full of smoke and had some wafting in the valley.. very little and i think it was blowby from the cyls that have open valves.. i pumped a lot of smoke in.. this weekend i'm gonna loosen the valves and do it again with everything closed off just to be 100%
k.. for todays stupid question.. since i have my motor apart someone told me i should put the cam at 107, howards says 103 and i have it at 103.5 right now.. anyone else thing this should be at 107?
also.. old converter should be at fti tomorrow.. interested to see what they find
