In the garage. Under the hood. Again.
...And I stress the word "Potential"

Was contacted earlier today about the Stage V(B) head I'm looking for;a "mreugeneford@gmail.com". Said to contact him via e-mail and provided a link. I copied his addy and sent off a missive stating that I was interested. I did not click on the e-mail link provided in the post. Well, that was about 4 hours ago and no response. Been busy helping the lil' woman clean the house(hey,I live here too;got to be responsible for keeping the joint clean as well),so it's been hit the computer while taking a break and then back at it. Me thinks this may be a ruse and I ain't pleased. Pissed at myself actually for doing it. Took a moment to check his "profile" and sure enough;zero posts, zero thanks and a join date of March 2013. @#$%,%$#@,&%@$. I'm getting a new computer Monday(refurbished unit with Window 7,anti-virus software, etc.),but I'm hoping that I haven't just screwed myself. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!

Go ahead, bust my balls;I should have known better. Just letting my brethren here know of potential problems.

Patients my friend... Good luck... I won't bust your balls yet...LOL... you will soon know if you were scammed misled or if it's just a slow responder, not returning your request for information or something else all together... maybe he was swamped with e-mails... I know I usually only check my E-mail in the mornings & very rarely at night, unless I'm expecting an e-mail from someone & unless it's an emergency, I figure people can either just wait {I tell most people, I only check it in the morning too} or call me on the phone... but I rarely ever sell or buy anything either from private parties here or on other sites anymore, so I can afford to do that... whats the old saying ??, if it's too good to be true, it probably is...LOL...

if he has no posts he's not here much either, or just a lurker maybe... I never give someone my E-mail or Phone # unless I know them or are familure with them, just PM's 1st...

I'm with budnicks. I've provided photo links and whenever you type your email in PM's it also show's up as a "link". could be just a guy who may lurk, saw what you wanted and gave you an email address probably as he may not hang out here as much or often as the rest of us. he may have sent you a picture link of the photo's.

was the link you are talking about his email address or somethings else? if it the link had imgur or photobucket or something like that it may have been pictures of what he has/you are looking for. I use imgur for photo hosting myself instead of actually sending pictures usually.

i wouldn't get to worried yet. if you want you can forward the PM to me and i'll take a look and see if it looks like something i've seen or not as far as file/picture hosting. if it's an email address shouldn't have anything to worry about. but you didn't click it so no worries anway.

now if he asks you to send him a western union or money order then start worrying :)

how is that different than saying those with hotmail or yahoo email addresses are sacammers? It could be a scam but what evidence do we have that this is s scammer so far? all 3 of my children use gmail addresses. a lot of people from my generation used to use aol.com email addresses (not me) and many use hotmail or yahoo addresses or their local IP service addresses like charter.net etc.

our scenario so far is: a person says on a web forum he's looking for something, another person PM's them that he has this part or something else (we don't know what else was said in the PM at this point based on info provided.

how does this scream scam? when i've had cars and parts for sale i've searched google for terms like "wanted 1968 barracuda" or "wanted 68 cuda" and come across forum ads and emailed the person or signed up to the forum to submit the message my self back when i was buying a selling stuff. didn't mean i was scamming just i was using tools to find people wanting something i had to sell and was internet savvy.

there is every chance this person was doing the same or reads the forum all the time and just was a lurker. I've lurked websites previously and never had anything to say, or didn't take the time to sign up and become a member unless something like a wanted ad prompted me to need to communicate. I can't say this person is legit but i don't know how anyone can say or should say this is a scam based on their email address alone or based on the info provided so far.

i will have offered to look at the PM or the OP can post what was said in the PM so we have all the info and i'm offering to contact Mr Eugene Ford to see what's up if Al's interested.

Tallhair, I agree. I recently contacted a guy on a forum who had a rat roaster for sale. I was doing a search for hemi intakes for a completely different reason and this add came up so I checked it out. Being I'm a sucker for vintage intakes and other parts, I called him (one of the bennies of being able to post a phone number). Turns out the guy was totally cool and was in WA. After some direct email communication, googling his name, more pictures and phone conversation, I now have a rat roaster that is as nice as he said it was and for a good price AND he even paid for shipping! But I also realize the opposite can be true.

thanks Meep.

Hopefully this results in a set of heads or a head for you Al. Apologize if i'm coming across as a busy body but just seems like a misunderstanding to me.

Not at all, man;didn't take as such. Oh;haven't heard from this online entity since then, and no one has pilfered my funds. In my PM inbox, the name is listed as "egford". I'm curious as to whether anyone else looking for or listing parts has received something from "him".

I'll just lose out on a potential buy or sale and keep deleteing them.Oh well

As the Pharoahs would have said: "Let's tie him to the car and drag him...".

i posted my friends car for sale on a dutch forum ( as i am from the Netherlands )
I got a call from a German guy who asked for pics and that he wanted to look at the car next week or the week after. We even discussed an approx. salesprice.
then..a few hours i got a mail from a friend with a link of a German site..the german guy posted the pics and put my friends car for sale for a lot more cash, with some kind of BS-story to go with it.
I confronted him with the link...link was removed in 2 minutes. And then he mailed me another BS story.
But..he was so stupid for fkkn the wrong guy. His name and e-mailadresses are on the German forum now. I have a lot of friends there..so he won't be able to buy a car again i think.

He replied to my 71 R/T tailight housing wanted ad. I was on my mobile phone so couldn't check it too closely. i replied so he has my email address.
