At some point in the future I plan on adding power windows to my 1972 restomod. I already have a 2015 Challenger center console and speed hut gauges, so I'm looking for something modern. I'm considering potentially eliminating the ash tray and putting in a Wrangler switch pod.

Another consideration are these billet aluminum ones underneath where the original stereo went. This would allow the passenger to reach if needed.

I could go the door route, but haven't really seen anything I like. The metal ones are all chrome and the plastic ones all look cheap. The lights in the wrangler pod burn out quick (I have a Wrangler), but it's certainly cheaper. That said I would need to figure out a good way to incorporate them into the existing space.

For reference, the button cluster on the console is getting replaced with a double din stereo in the near future, so that space is ruled out.

I'm looking for some feedback on these options or something I haven't thought of. For those that have original power windows, where were the switches mounted?

Repro 68-74 switches are available.

They mount in the door panels.

There are molded in guides for cutting them out.

Oh, didn't see the resto-mod theme.

I believe switches are available that utilize the window cranks to operate. Total stealth.

****, I'd be afraid if someone jumps in and try's opening the window and doesn't know it's a switch. They'd go to crank it and destroys your switch. Just imagine going on a first date and she wants to open the window, before you could so "NOOOOOOOOOO" the crank is in her hand and she's looking at you like "WTF.

Most of us are long past the 1st date stage.
It's more like she hits the handle while your sticking her cane on the rear floor.
