Project backyard belvedere

Thanks for the kind words guys. I plan on driving it as is for now. Might put a cam in the motor to wake it up a bit. I'll probably start looking for a builder 440 after the interior goes in soon. Till then, I'm gonna put a hurt on those new tires!!

Did ya get the tail lights figured out?

I'm not going to have a chance to pull the steering wheel until the weekend. Crazy work week. I'll keep you posted!

Been doing some more stuff to the 65. I installed the seat covers and carpet last weekend. Got the new tail light lenses put in. This weekend I will install the new turn signal switch so hopefully I will have functioning electrical this weekend. Also got my stickers from the dmv for the black plates soooooooo, hopefully this weekend I'll be doing legal burn outs!!!:icon_cheers:

Just the Mopar turquoise paint in a can. It's a great motor. 100,000 mile 440 out of an Imperial that idles like a sewing machine, makes no weird noise, doesn't smoke and fries the tires off!

So, I just got off the phone with my friend Rich who wanted to see my 65 now. Sorry for resurrecting this old thread, but here are some updates.
Shortly after I left off with this thread, I started catching the drag racing bug again. With a limited budget I decided to upgrade the belvedere as I drove it. I tied the frame, bumped the low compression up with a set of 915, closed chamber heads(thanks Rich!), added full Tti exhaust, street dominator with a Holley 750 dp and a comp 270 magnum cam. Once I got some drag radials on it I broke the yoke on the 8 3/4 so it now has a 3.54 geared Dana 60. With some tuning, I got the car to go 8.36 @ 84mph in the 1/8 mile. I was pretty pleased as the bottom end was never apart and had low compression, dished Pistons. 130,000 original miles on short block.
I am currently finishing up another 440 right now. Just waiting on my pistons to be made. Here's the combo:
.030 over, 10 to 1 shortblock with icon flat tops
Bullet cam 235/239 @ .050. 490/492 lift
Eddy rpm heads
Also got a ultimate 3000 stall converter from Lenny.
RMVB and tf-2 shift kit
The rest of the car is pretty much the same. Hoping to be around 12.00 in the quarter.
Just wanted a fun street strip car that I could gradually upgrade as budget permits!
Here are a couple of updated pics. I also found a uncracked 65 dash pad!!!!

Hey Thunder, thanks! The hood still has the bracing in place so it's essentially stock as far as clearance goes. I just cut the hood skin around the bracing. Also, I've never measured the clearance but I've also run a 1" phenolic spacer and the hood still has room to close. Hope this helps!
