Propane grill recommendations

Well they're different Nexgrills then, as there is ZERO plain steel in either of mine. They even come with a fitted cover..

Id say they are very different. I know a lot of manufacturers make a cheaper line for big chain stores. I saw a Honeywell thermostat from HD that looked just like the ones I sell. But if you take them apart and look inside they where clearly different and the one from HD was crap. Also ran into the same thing with tires from Walmart and t-shirts from Target.

Our grill sits outside on our deck all year round with a cover (and stored under the roof eave). The last one lasted about 17 years - probably should have replaced it sooner. I'd been thinking of getting a new one but didn't want to spend much on it. Last winter while I was in Menard's - not really shopping for one - I stopped to look at grills. I wasn't ready to buy (it was the beginning of January, too), but I liked the features of this one, so I did some research and ended up ordering one later. Even though the big feature of it is that it can be a gas grill or charcoal, I just liked the features best of the ones that weren't in the more expensive group. I bought it to use as gas and like the grate material the most. Been using it for a year, now, and it still works great and looks like new. As RC said, A high quality cover helps.

Just poking. I prefer coal.
I'm kicking around pellets myself, not sure if I can bring myself to yet. Good luck in your search

Time for a new grill, old one rusted out. I haven’t been impressed by any of the grills I’ve seen in the last ten years. Anything out there better than the basic grills at the big box stores? (Preferably under $1,000).
Ditch the propane and buy a Traeger wood fired grill. You’LL never look back.

Never tried coal, use pellets in the smoker and love it.
There is a coal fired pizza shop here that makes the best pizza.

I have a Pit Boss pellet grill and it works well but it isn't a replacement for a gas grill. (convenience)

I can have mine up to 375 degrees in less than 10 minutes and cook a quick burger or chicken. With the indirect heat you’ll never burn the crap out of a good steak when the old propane grill flames up and torches your dinner!!

Mine has a sear plate I can open to sear steaks, burgers, and chops after smoking. I still won't be without a gasser. I cook on it as well as grill.

I have a Weber that's about three years old. It's crap compared to the same grill a friend has that's probably at least ten years old. And it doesn't "breathe" well. You can't have a low and slow fire. It goes out.

After going through 3 different (cheap) gas grills, I went with the Weber Genesis. Just during assembly, I could see a huge difference in quality. Quite happy with it and it gets my vote.

I got a SS Napoleon BBQ for free from Airmiles about 15 years ago (worth about $1000). With regular cleaning and covering it when not in use, it still looks and works great. Only thing I've replaced so far was the ignitor. That cost $15 on Amazon. If I had to buy one I'd get one from Costco. All stainless and parts are easy to get.

Bottom line...buy a good rust resistant, heavy bbq and with maintenance and care it'll last a long time.
