I recently had full AMD quarters put on my 1968 Coronet, but ran into a slight issue that I would like some input on.

The quarter extensions align perfect with the topline, trunk and bottom corners. But my issue lies with the quarter/extension where it starts to curve slightly above the side marker "roughly three to four inch section" and and the extension sticks out roughly an 1/8 in.

Would you use filler to build this out? Or how would you address this?

I'll post some pic later this evening.

Thanks

yup, whatever it takes........ but the quarter should have been hung while fitting the extension as close as possible, that being said, a little body work is usually needed

Thanks! I read a few threads stating the contours can be slightly off on AMD quarters, but maybe they didn’t hang ‘em properly as you stated.

None the less, all the other lines and gaps are spot on, so filler it is!

Cheers

I suppose you could build up a little weld on the corner, and grind/file it into shape; but hardly worth the agg....... carry on, and good luck!

1.Mark the 4" area along the edge of the QP, 2.remove the extension
3.make a cut slightly longer than 4" on the portion the extension fastens
4. replace the extension and tighten
5. push out the edge of the QP area to desired area to meet flush with extension
6. put a couple beads from the inside of the trunk to hold where you desire
7. remove extension and complete stitching and finish the metal.

If I'm reading your dilemma correctly. It's actually quite common of a correction with panel alignment.
