hey fellas,im working on an old 72 400 steel crank motor, and need to replace the waterpump housing and the pump.
while perusing various sites,i noticed that there was a long snout and a short snout? option ?? but no one seems to clarify that.
mine seems to measure out at 3 inches?

from these pics and measurements can you advise what i should get?
id like alum if possible.
motor is in front of a 4 speed,so i was also looking at the higher flow pumps?
thanks for any advice you can give.

I thought long and short was only small blocks, but i could be wrong. All the big blocks i would think are rather short snouted.

Where did you get that information? I never heard of it.
