Im looking for a new muffler. As close to stock as possible. A quiet one is my priority. Not looking for Flowmaster or Borla. Maybe a walker or something like that. Any recommendations for a super quiet muffler? My existing one is a 2 1/2" center in/offset out config

I have Walkers on my '64 Polara, with 440 and dual exhausts. They have a nice rumble at idle, and are quiet enough at cruise that I don't hear them in the car.

Find out how much room you have under the car, and buy the biggest, longest quiet flow walker that will fit. Try a Cadillac or Imperial application.
For what it's worth, I have two 5x12x 22" case mufflers under my 62.... but they are huge tubing flowmasters, and they aren't quiet.

Hello I have tried three different sets of mufflers over six years. Findley found a set that I really like, the Walker Hush flow. Nice tone at it idel. Got rid of that drowning noise at 60 mph. Very Happy.

Existing ONE? Single exhaust?

Dynomax super turbo. Someplace I have a chart, and a member here made it and posted it long ago. That muffler flows really well and isn’t super loud. I combined it with a resonators on my car last year and it did the trick. No drone, no loud booming sounds passing buildings and overpasses. Can talk to a passenger ok. It’ll do what you want. I’m done with getting noticed. Each and every car from here forward in my garage will have a set of resonators. I went with the round ones from Vibrant.

My favorite is Walker Dyno Max # 17733. Nice rumble at idle. Smooth and quite at highway speeds
Check around as prices vary.

I have used Dyno Max Super Turbo's and Walker Sound FX. Both have a nice mellow sound and are a good direct replacement. (Even on my V6 Dakota's)

I have used those and your description is spot on

A vote for the Flowmasters FlowFX all welded & all Stainless Steel
semi' straight thru, it has a slight jog in it, you can see day-lite thru it
from the center entry to one side exit style mufflers, perf. pipe inside
& it's like $39-$59 (?) or less from Summit racing, that was in 3"
they make all sizes

I'll run straight pipes before running Flowbastards!! My 5.9 diesel is pretty nice with a straight but the V6 Dakota is nasty sounding but it wakes up the sleepers at a light that are obsessed with their dang cell phones and I don't get any middle fingers flipped at me. People hate a quick blip of the horn!! The V6 will also shut down the morons with loud thumping stereo systems too. Not drone inside the cabin either. Been running straights since the 70's starting with a 71 Honda 350 SL.

The Flowmaster FlowFX and the Cherry Bomb Salute are the same Magnaflow copies from the same factory in China. Same basic part number but the CB are a few bucks cheaper than FM. Stainless steel, straight through, fairly quiet until you put your foot in it. Engine Masters did an under $40 muffler test and those mufflers cost zero horsepower over open dyno headers.

I love the Flowmaster sound, but I replaced the Super 44 Series on two of my cars with the CB Salutes. I'm going with a new TTI 2.5" system on the GTX using Dynomax Super Turbo mufflers which are supposed to flow well and be fairly quiet.

If you want quiet, get the biggest muffler you can fit under the car.

My exhaust guy explained how flowmaster and Magnaflow both went after each other in different parts of the market with a cheap muffler aimed at a good one the other sold. Its been about a year and half so I long forgot the specifics, but that sounds about right.
