Radiator Fan: Blow Towards Motor or Radiator?

I’ve seen a YouTube video showing the fan blows towards the Radiator cooling the water in the radiator, and a post on this forum that says the fan blows towards the motor drawing more air from the front to cool the radiator. ‘71 Dodge Charger 440 with 7 blade clutch fan.

Think about it. The fan is going to be pushing air forward, while the car is getting air pushed back from the grille while moving? What makes sense ?

No they weren't
You are correct. In 1900, 22% of cars were gasoline powered, 38% were electric, but the largest percentage was steam at 40%. Electric car sales didn't peak until 1910. Electric taxis were particularly popular.

Interesting thing happened on one of my cars. The fan was on backwards when I got it. I didn’t catch it, car ran right on tstat even long idling. I was showing a family member the car and he said this is wrong. Sure enough it was. Turned it the correct way and it made zero difference. Weird.

Putting a fan on backward won't change the direction of the air movement. It will still pull, it just won't have the blades oriented in quite as efficient curvature.

Reminds me of a Road Kill episode with a ratty old Camaro they picked up and was overheating. They discovered the engine driven fan was mounted backwards blowing air forward towards the radiator. And then the PO had mounted an electric pusher fan in front of the radiator, also blowing towards the radiator. Both deadheading at the radiator. One of Bubba’s finer moments.
