Good morning all,

Quick question…the post threads on my Ramcharger base (1/4”x20) are stripped at the very top. I can start a 1/4”x20 nut, but it will only go half a turn or so. I’d like to use a couple of 1/4”x20 shoulder nuts, but of course they won’t thread all the way on.

My question is…do you think I could fix the threads by using a 1/4”x20 die? Or could I potentially screw up the entire post? A replacement base is several hundred dollars and what I have does work, just not properly.

Thanks!
Bob

I would at least try to repair it with your tap and die set. Worst case you get a dremel and cut the little spot welds and put new studs in. Those really look like they might be 1/4 20 bolts turned upside down and tack welded. lol
