My older brother had a 59 that I got to ride a lot. His first bike was 1940’s Indian Chief with a side car. When I was 13 a neighbour had a 250 Enfield for sale, which I got to ride for a month. I was 20.00 short, my Mother didn’t want me to have, so I couldn’t borrow the money.

So my brother said that when I could pick the Indian from its side I could ride it. So I rode tncent ...everything else would have been a let down..hat for a while. He also fixed a NSU Fox for a guy and I got to ride it, plus a James.
After the Thunderbird he got a 1960 Bonneville which I rode plus his next bike a Vincent Rapide. I never did ride any of his later Japanese bikes. Fun times.
I agree. A fellow from England by the name Barry Howell showed up at the farm on his Black Shadow I believe. He left England with his girl friend about 1976 for a trip around the world. She got as far as Afghanistan and went home. He carried on eventually ending up in Australia. Then freighted the bike and himself to Montreal. He decided to go across Canada, saw that there was Vincent club owner in rural Saskatchewan. This was about 1981. He rode to the farm, ended up working for my brother, for a season. Nice guy. He stayed with us for a couple of days on his way to Vancouver B.C. Don’t know what route he took back to Jolly Old.Basically after riding a Vincent ..everything else would have been a let down
