When I was a teenager working at my father's Sunoco station there was a guy with a big block Ranchero like that. He got tired of paying for gas and traded it in on a new Ford Capri.
I have a couple baby moons I'll offer up to anyone doing creative art, but at 8" diameter, they're probably a bit small for your project @Hey-O .That was my first thought. I have one hanging on the wall in my garage that I thought I'd use. Then I got sad thinking about drilling a hole in it, I really like it. !! LOL. The filter top I'm going to use is also in this picture. I'll peel the old Chevy 406 sticker off of it. I've got a few places to go and look. One takes an hour to go through and man, do I get lost in that place. Big old two story storefront on old main street, packed with everything known to God! I'll find it. Thank you!

I used a brake drum for this project. Enough weight to be stable without modification.

As @Photon440 suggested, I used a pole lamp base for this one. You can't really see it in this light, but the helmet is lighted inside.
