What heat resistant rattle can spray do you guys recommend for touching up my ‘71 383? Is there also a heat resistant aerosol primer as well? Engine looking a little shabby. Planning on an off season touching up and I really don’t want to pull the engine/trans so I’ll just remove accessories and mask off frame, etc. Thanks all.

I usually just use the Mopar brand. I think there are better brands out there, just need to make sure it is the correct shade.
Some of the "Orange" engine paints are Chevy Orange and darker than the Mopar street Hemi Orange. If you see race hemi Orange, it is more of a yellow.

I have been wondering if any of today's clear coats used in bccc sprayed over any of the enamel spray bombs would help keep the paint looking better a bit longer under all the heat. Many of the urethan clears are just two parts, clear and hardner, no reducer, so I don't think lifting would be a problem. Those clears can handle ethanol gas spilled directly on them and I think they may could really extend the life of the paint...anybody tried it?

In the past I’ve also used the Mopar brand. Still have a can or two when I did my car 20+ yrs. ago. Got to think they will be dead this time around. Thanks guys. Do you prime before shooting engine and if so, with what?

I do. Again.. VHT high-temp primer.

Besides the VHT Hemi Orange, the Mopar brand is great as well.

Masking secret: Use aluminum foil wherever needed to mask hoses, wiring harnesses, distributors, alternators, headers, etc. Just don't try starting the engine of course.
