It is easy enough to find factory shipping weights . BUT what are the real world kerb weights of these cars .
I am talking big block , auto with power steer 2 door sedan or hardtop .
I am looking to replace my 68 Satellite , and will swap its complete drivetrain over . It currently is just over 3500lbs but has all the usual aluminium engine parts , radiator , wheels and fibreglass hood and front bumper .
I do have a 65 Coronet hardtop to look at at the moment
What info do you have ?
Thanks

Tex

My /6 66 Belvedere with auto, rubber floor mats, manual steering and ac was 3370 when I got it. It also had about 100 lbs of undercoating too. It was loaded with the crap.

my 65 coronet 2drhtp weighs 3780 with an iron head 440, automatic, 8 3/4 and steel wheels. no power steering or brakes.

My 70 Bee weighs less than a Cuda'

Some B-bodies were 3300 to 3450 and E-bodies were more.

I put my 66 on a diet with a glass hood, no front bumper (mid 50's look), took out the back seat and torn up floor mats, removed the rear window regulators, got rid of the undercoating, removed 10+ coats of paint, hole punched the inner doors and other panels, removed the muffler and installed a straight pipe, installed an aluminum flex fan on the brutal /6, installed bucket seats that were lighter than the bench (bench was shot) and got it down to 2950 with the ac still on it. On a side note, my 71 340 Cuda was 3560 in stock form with ac, pb, ps and had no other heavy options but was loaded with undercoating too.

My 65 Belvedere I post car:
slant 6/automatic
manual steering/brakes (disc front)
full tank of gas
no door panels
no spare
has bumper jack
15x6 steel front rims/hubcaps
15x7 rear steel rims /hubcaps
all steel (factory) body parts
front bench seat/rear seat
column shift
no a/c but has heater
all factory glass
basically just a stock six cylinder car with no frills
I had it weighed and it was 3200 lbs with no driver

thanks for the replies .
Darn Lew your coronet seems heavy !
oh I will end up with at least a fibreglass hood/scoop

when i got my coronet it had a stock 361 and weighed 3480 empty. you'd be surprised at how the weight adds up with a larger engine, dual exhaust, better brakes and suspension.

thanks Lew ,
if I could start at 3480 then fit all my light weight parts I would be rapt .
car I am looking at is a 383 auto with steer . bench seat 2 door hardtop

Tex

that 3480 was no power steering, heater, small single exhaust, small 10" brakes, small 195x14 wheel tire combo, small suspension, 361 2bbl-automatic.

1964 Belvedere.I've tried to be weight conscious during the build. But sacrifices were made. Fire system, 2 batteries, chrome bumpers, old school wheels, big radiator, dual fans, and the stock steering wheel. All was additional weight. I'm very happy with my other weight saving measures. The result. Car in race trim w/o driver 3121lbs. Body is all steel except hood.

dvw, thats pretty light for a steel car. the weights i've given for my '65 don't include my old fat butt. i like your '64! a pic of my heap. actually a pretty good/solid car. reliable pump gas drive anywhere car.

Doug,
your Plymouth always makes me jealous. Weight is amazing. What height scoop is that ? I may need more than the usual 2-3"
My best hope is for around3400lbs less would be great .
Like Lew mine will be a stock full interior . it will be my daily driver like the Plymouth .
Lew - nice motor , I do have a dual quad modman sitting on the shelf . nearly bought a 65 same colour as yours .
been a few years since I owned a Dodge , last one was a 1958 Custom Royal .

My 63 goes just over 3700 lbs with my 180 in it. Its all stock and steel with just a glass hood. I added the frame connectors and a 6 point rollbar. Ron

Lew ,
yes a nice finned one :glasses10:
Ron,
thanks . I guess I am surprised with some of the weights - but who knows . I know I don't want to fit a rollbar/cage , I can run legally to 10.95 in practice / qualifying ,11.00 when racing .
My 3660 was with me in race trim

Wow over here below 11.50 requies atleast a 5 point rollbar and a fire jacket. I dont mind my 6 point bar as it does not get in my way with all the street driving I do and its leagal to 10.0. And this way I can run 10's with no hassle. Ron

Yes Ron . Our road rules are way tighter than yours . I cannot run on the street with side intrusion bars or a taxi bar in a 2 door and use the rear seat - and if you are thinking of running slicks woo baby forget it. Even like this,4/5 point rollbar, it must be engineered as road worthy/safe . I run SuperStreet down to 11.00 , long pants and jacket - no fire jacket . Different strokes for different folks  . Though they have just screwed the class by pulling it from national events , have to move up to a delay box class if I want to run there . ANDRA certainly are kindred spirits to NHRA

Tex

So Tex you dont have any rollbar at all in your car at all ? I have never been hassled on the street with my 6 point bar. I mean heck it makes the car safer on the street too but I guess we have to remember driving on the street with the bar and not wearing a helmet on the street could be bad if you hit your head on the rollbar. But I do have padding around the bar where its anywhere near my head. Ron

Ron,
Correct no rollbar . Like i said our road rules are way different to yours , race rules closer but still a bit different .
Off to look at a 65 Coronet tomorrow that is why all the questions
