Rear defrost switch

I just won the switch but missed getting the relay. Is this something that I can wire without it or is that not a good idea? Forgot to add its a 68 Superbee

Just looked thru my service manual-- no relay is showing in wiring diagram. 3-prong switch- 1 post is batt. feed. other 2 posts are black and white wiring coming together at rear plug to hot side of def. motor.White wire is showing as a resistance wire(2-speed switch?) doesn't say what resistance the wire is. Ground side of def. motor just goes to sheet metal for ground. Hope this helps.
