Rear view mirror problem

My 72's mirror is loose front screw is tight. Every time I hit a bump, mirror moves at the ball... Solution ?

You need to take the base down and tighten the the retainer plate that holds the ball of the post in the socket of the base.

I temporally repaired mine using rubber boot from a caliper pin

I drilled a hole in a mirror from a windshield mount and used a long screw to mount it together...it wasn't my proudest fix but it had been stripped in side an wouldn't tighten up on 2 screws and had a hideous PO fix .... I will get a new one at some point....
