Well, it's been almost 1 year since I posted about my new chair I bought last December 2016. See post #36.

It was great for about 6 months and now I hate it. The place where my back rests bows like a hookers legs and the cushion for my head is permanently indented. I'm 5'7" and weigh about 155 lbs. and I don't spend all day in the chair. So, I'm not hard on furniture. I don't have back trouble, yet. But I do have trouble sitting in that chair long enough to watch a movie or TV program. And I know it can't help my posture any.

So, please give me your recommendations for a recliner for a smallish guy like me that I won't have to sell my Coronet to pay for.

Thanks FBBO

Leather and Lazy Boy here. When my dad passed i took his Lazy Boy and put it in a spare bedroom. The chair was old then and it still lasted. In fact i only got rid of it because i was doing the room over and it didn't match

Your not thinking right. Good chairs are hard to find.
Should have done the room to match the chair.

Best Chair. The Best. May have to sell Coronet though.

You might as well think of the future and get a lift chair! :D

Talk to your local upholstery shop. They may be able to refinish your old chair with upgraded foam.

La-Z-Boy.
Get one in the size that fits you then adjust it for your weight.
You should be able to recline and sit up without using your hands.
Dad sold those chairs for years.

In your previous post back in December, you stated it was a "La-z-boy". Doest look like one, or is it?

Make sure it's got lower pockets on both side for Geritol and Viagra. Never know when you have to get your energy up for an X-rated movie after the wife's gone to bed.

Stay away from X-rated movies, that's why we have the Blue forum! :D

I had a Barcalounger that lasted a good 20 years. When I was looking for a new one I saw a Lazyboy I liked, until I tipped it over and looked at the mechanism. It looked really cheap and flimsy. I passed.

Went to Ashley and found one. The mechanism looked adequate. I bought it. After only 6 months the leather was showing signs of discoloration at wear points like the head rest and on the arms. Ashley claims that I "don't maintain it properly". Their disclaimer is that it needs to be wiped down once a week. The Barcalounger was never wiped down.

Next time I will buy a Barcalounger.

Get what ya pay for....furniture is almost always disposable-grade.
One good thing about La-Z-Boy is the lifetime warranty om the mechanism (the part that reclines). Cushions, not so much. I think that was 90 days. That should have been a hint to stay away from this chair. It was all I could afford at the time.
