Anyone every gotten a car and found the fuel tank swollen?
Any suggestions on the most accurate reproduction tank?
When we got the 67 Charger it had sat for some years and the fuel tank had swollen up and we replaced that one.
I was looking under the Road Runner and the tank sure looks like it also has swollen. It has even pushed the trunk pan up some.
I get that fuel expands. Maybe even more so when it is allowed to sit for years in the tank.
But I would think it would not be rapid enough to cause the tank to swell up because the system would leak out some and relieve the pressure.
?????????

Fuel evaporates over time. The vent line off the sender is plugged allowing pressure buildup especially when it gets hot outside.

Get a 69 only tank, the 70 fits but needs modification of vents. Keep everything old until the new tank is in and the car is running. Shook down, driven parked on a incline etc. Keep the sending unit - get it rebuilt. Don't buy from Mopar Ed in the Central Valley. Good luck.

The Spectra Premium tanks that are made in Canada are nice.
