Hy all.

i have to replace the crossmember on my 70 charger.

I already have disassembled the car... also the front axle.

So my question is , if it is necessary to have the torsion bar installed for a proper alignment of the crossmember ???

If yes i have to reinstall the front axle parts again..

would be a pain ....

The old crossmember is still there.....so i can do some marks on the frame , to know where to install the new crossmember.

but not sure if this would be accurate enough ??? not knowing how sensitive the torsion bar setup is ??

Hope to get some help / advice from you

Big thx
Achim

Take exact measurements of where the cross member is before removal and replace per measurements. Reinforce the socket ends while in there..

just missed the question....

Did you install the crossmember also with spot welds only ?? like original
or did you fully weld it in ?
Thx

You will also want the car either on a jig or solidly supported. Some temporary cross bracing wouldn't hurt either. You don't want anything to move when it gets cut out.

i dont have a jig ...but will add some cross bracing.

the car is sitting fully disassembled on a lift ...... hope this is ok ? i am bit worried about

Welded similar to OE and anywhere else we could get a good weld on it.
