On a 727 (1978 small block in a power wagon) can the reverse servo arm be taken out and put in without taking the transmission completely apart?

The center part that pushes on the low reverse strut rod broke and needs replaced along with the rod reinstalled.

Thank you.

you have to remove the extension housing you will see the shaft it will slide out there are 2 o rings on it

You do have another option if you don't want to remove the ext. housing.

If you look at the ext. housing from under the car an the lower drivers side, you will see a tab covering the reverse pin. You can take a sharp chisel and break it off to remove the pin.
Some models have a screw hole in the pin for easy removal. Now after re insert the pin make sure to lube the o rings. After you get the pin in all the way remove the closet bolt on the housing to where you broke off the tab. Now you need a small thin piece of sheet metal or something else. Fab and shape it to be up as close against the pin from the bolt hole and put the bolt back in with the bracket. Now if it ever leaks or you need to pull the pin for whatever reason it will be a simple job.

We did this a lot in my dad's tranny shop to save customers a lot of money and a fast easy fix to get the car back on the road again.

Will I be able to get the reverse strut rod in at the same time?
Yes you will.

Thank you gentlemen. It will be a week or two before I get to work on it. Since this is my daily driver I will just have to plan my parking. I have been dealing with it for two weeks so another week or two is no big deal.
