Hi all,

why does my rpm drop to the point of even killing the engine, when shifting from park to reverse, or drive?

440 with a pretty big cam, rpm in park is 970-1000

Timing/mixture settings are off.
If it's wanting to stall, they're way off. I suppose it could be a converter mis-match issue, if your "pretty big (?)" cam got stuck in front of a tight low-stall unit. But I'd be looking at timing and carb first because it's easier than swapping converters.
Pretty much zero info given so that's about all anyone can say...

Is the carb is right? Does it have 15-20 degrees initial timing. If so the converter is to tight.

Ok guys thank you for the tips, I’ll start with the mixture first.

sounds like classic symptoms of vacuum leak.
